The Video Mapping Festival is an activity of The Video Mapping European Center, a project launched in September 2017 by the French association Rencontres Auiovisuelles. The festival's output was aimed at the public through 15 different available video-mapping locations, while providing space for professionals and European students of animation and video games.
The object mapping workshop was attended by 10 students, one of whom was from FTF VŠMU. The students worked under the guidance of Hamza Mrabet, who has extensive experience in creating a variety of projections. The remaining approximately 90 students were divided into other smaller teams creating projections for other objects, the opera house or working on video games. These were also projected on the facades of historic buildings or statues. After seeing the building at the Palace of Fine Arts in Lille, the participants moved to the Arenberg Creative Mine in Wallers-Arenberg, about an hour from the city, where they learned the technical requirements for creating the projection and began intensive 4-day work. Together they created a 3 and a half minute work called Woman. The projection was a study of the individual understanding of the concept of femininity through videomapping.
The journey has contributed to broadening horizons in the field of animation, visual effects and the use of new technologies, which today not only provide a unique visual experience but also have an impact on the wider cultural and social context.
