The second year of the Mouvo motion design conference was marked by movement, colors and procedurality. In the line-up, I was most impressed by two creators. Simon Holmedal and Gmunk. Simon Holmedal - the main part of the Man vs Machine company, which currently creates the most elaborate 3D motion design advertisements for Nike. His work is full of procedural modeling and movement, patterns, fractals and the like. Simon is a humble and strongly spiritual person who professes Buddhism. Gmunk - in the motion design community, he is the founding father of modern motion design. He broke through with the glitch style in 2002 and since then, each of his projects has been exceptional in terms of implementation technique. I admire the minimal use of CGI in his work. For example, he created the famous glass Windows logo using lasers. His lecture was very unique and certainly by far the best I have ever experienced. In an hour and a half, he clicked through more than 1000 slides, half of which were funny pictures of monkeys and the like. As a person, he is very open and without boundaries. The conference offered many other quality speakers, including from the fields of television graphics, UI elements from Google, etc. The main part of these types of conferences is the after party where a mortal like me can talk over a beer with the aforementioned speakers. I met again the same top CZ/SK community, whether effects artists or motion designers, with whom I have been meeting for almost 3 years, always in Prague at the Mouvo, Splash conferences or unofficial meetings in a bar where up to 40 people from the Czech Republic and Slovakia gather.
