To begin with, I'll say something about why I decided to use a photo, a 2D drawing, and a 3D model at the same time. Yes, of course, it's a reference to the fact that I like to create both 2D and 3D things. But another reason is that as a digital artist I try to see the world differently than it appears on the outside. By developing my observational skills and searching for the motivations behind certain things, many variations arise in my head, explaining why things are the way they are, why they are where they are, what their meaning is... and the more I think about them, the more I feel that I don't know them at all and that they may hide any secrets. That's why the things that I understand the least and are therefore the furthest from me are hand-drawn. The ones that I understand more and are already closer are created using the 3D technique. And I'm the only one in the photo, since I know myself best, who captures reality.
As for the composition, all the elements in the portrait somehow create imaginary lines pointing to me and the monster. Similarly, in real life, I sometimes feel like I am the main point, the cause of things happening. As if the world could not exist without me. This element is also supported by the moon, which is the main point of the composition and represents the halo above my head.
The right side of the portrait is dominated by sharp, triangular shapes, symbolizing a dark past, anxiety, vulnerability. But in the direction where I and the monster are facing, the shapes are softer, more powerful, and stable. This indicates that I am ready for the future and looking to it positively.
The atmosphere is quite mysterious and for a simple reason. I like it. I like it when it is foggy outside, when the aerial perspective creates a certain gradient on the mountains and light rays are visible in space. The whole surroundings in the portrait should evoke the feeling of fresh icy air, the sound of the wind and the cawing of ravens, gentle chills. I chose desaturated complementary colors because I want to express with them that life does not have to be too colorful to be beautiful. You just need to find the right contrasts.
Finally, we have a monster, which is a key point in this composition, just like in my life. We all have this monster. These are the qualities, thoughts, opinions and ideas that are hidden within us. These are the things that make us who we are. The things that make us different and unique. Many people think that this monster is their enemy and they fight it. They want to kill it. The more they hurt it, the weaker they become. But if a person tames this monster, they will find that with it they can overcome all the pitfalls in life.
