3rd year of B.Sc.
The space in which Andrej Rudavsky has created his entire life and in which I grew up is located in small Slovakia, in even smaller Bratislava. Slovakia itself is not a destination that an ordinary person would come to see, and therefore the studios that Andrej built on land that was once just an overgrown potato field do not just come under one's nose. However, modern times are developing faster and faster, and we have the opportunity to bring spaces to people all over the world without having to invest in a plane ticket. And that's what I'm here for. The goal of the project is to digitize Andrej Rudavsky's work using 3D scanning and transfer this studio with a rich history into a virtual space. The work will be divided into four phases - Wood, Bronze, Stone and Painting. Each phase will change within one space with different atmospheres and will be adapted to the given medium. People will be able to navigate his periods, learn about his history and Andrej himself through video footage from archives (which will be obtained from home and television archives) and his diaries/sketches. The studio is now cleared out and used as a gallery for his work in our garden, but digitizing the space before its change and including the chaotic mess will also be part of the project with the help of 3D scans from Studio 727 who managed to archive this phase. Together with programmers, artists and a guide to modern technology, I will coordinate and conceptualize this virtual gallery with elements of interactivity. The output will be a downloadable .exe application that any ordinary person with a computer can turn on and view. It will contain one interactive space that will also be interspersed with "cutscenes". We will use software such as ZBrush, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine 5 and will program in C++. The additional plan will be to work with Studio 727 and rework the application into a virtual space. The scans themselves will be processed by a program chosen according to how we decide to scan the surfaces of the various materials. Part of the theoretical work will be testing different materials and the scanning procedures that are most suitable for them.
